Women’s Institute: The meeting will be held on 9 March at 7.30 p.m. in the community centre. Mrs Maureen O’Neill will be telling members about Life at Lovat Fields. The competition is for a pretty jug.
Steve Perry: Steve once again did a splendid job entertaining over sixty people in the Sports Club at the end of February. It was a marvellous evening. Mel d’Agostino, Peri Purnell, Millie Tearle and others prepared beef stew and dumplings followed by apple pie and custard, all beautifully served at the tables. It was all delicious. Afterwards Peri’s daughter Sam, the Chairman, Bob Clements tackled a mountain of washing up while Malcolm Purnell and others squeezed into the bar area to serve drinks to the now thirsty singers. Towards the end of the evening the guests all joined in a knees-up. Everyone present thoroughly enjoyed the evening singing favourite songs and having a good time. Thank you to all the organisers and those who came. Finally thank you to Ted Andrews, who kindly took over the community centres tables, chairs etc and checked they went back again.
Women’s Institute: The Women’s Institute meet tonight (Tuesday 9th) in the Community Centre, Bragenham Side at 7.30 p.m. Just a reminder that PCSO Tina Hobson will be available after the talk to hand out leaflets and speak to anyone with concerns.

Flowers on the Green: Flowers will be sold on the village green from 6.30 a.m. on Saturday 13th March for Mothering Sunday. Mrs Rosemary Clay is unable to be on the stall this year so anyone reading this who would like to help do please feel free to go down to the stall and offer your assistance. It will be gratefully received. Any profit will go towards the tea making facility planned in St Luke’s church.
Mothering Sunday Service: There will be a United Family Service for Mothering Sunday in St Luke’s at 11.00 a.m. taken by Revd John Waller and everyone is invited to this service, especially Mums, there may even be a little something for you during the service! It’s a very friendly and relaxed service so do come if you can you will be made very welcome.

Condolences: Our deepest sympathy to Mrs Margaret Faulkner and the family on the death of her husband Bill. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. A thanksgiving service will take place in the Chapel on 8 March after a private cremation service.
A musical weekend: Do put the weekend of July 17th and 18th in your diaries. There will be a concert in St Luke’s on the evening of Saturday 17th July with organist, Barry Williams and several instrumentalists plus the Launton hand bell ringers. On Sunday 18th Magic Dave will be coming back to the Community Centre to entertain from 2 -2.45 p.m. and the Great Horwood Silver band will be coming to play too, by popular request. Tea and cakes will be served. Everyone welcome and of course there will be more details about the times at a later date.
Play in the Park: AVDC will be again bringing Play in the Park to the recreation field in Bragenham Side on Monday 2nd August, Thursday 12th August and Thursday 19th August between 2.00pm and 4.30 p.m. Again please put these dates in your diaries, it’s free and well worth bringing children too. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Messy Church: This is an opportunity for mums and dads, or carers of any sort to bring little ones and children to have a good time. However the event won’t be held in church (the repairs will be going on hopefully!) it will be held on Sunday 4th July in the community centre from 11.00a.m. Recent ‘Messy Church’ held in the Brickhills has been amazingly popular so it has been decided to try it here. There will be activities and things to do together. There are no isolated activities so children won’t be left with people they don’t know. Everyone regardless of age is welcome to come and have a good time for an hour or so. There will be more information later but again do put the date in your diary.
Get well soon: There are quite a number of villagers in hospital or who are ill as this item goes to press. You know who you are and everyone sends their best wishes to you. We are all thinking of you and hope to see you among us again soon. Best wishes especially this week to Sandra Perrett who fell downstairs and broke her ankle recently.
