Distict Councillor - Neil Blake

Neil Blake is the District Councillor for the Great Brickhill Ward of Aylesbury Vale District Council which covers Stoke Hammond, Great Brickhill, Soulbury and Drayton Parslow.

He was first elected to the Council in May 2003. He is vice-chairman of the Resources and Corporate Perfomance Scrutiny Committee and is a member of the Development Control Committee.

He lives in Great Brickhill with his wife Janet, who is the District Councillor for Stewkley Ward. He is the joint owner of snooker clubs in Milton Keynes and Hemel Hempstead and financial director of a local fruit and vegetable wholesaler. His hobbies include golf, gardening, playing dominoes and watching rugby.

News From Aylesbury Vale

Canvassers are set to embark on personal calls to residents in Aylesbury Vale who have not yet returned their electoral registration forms. This is to ensure they don’t forfeit their right to vote or, indeed , incur a fine. Canvassers will carry an AVDC Identity Card,

Applications are being invited from residents of Aylesbury Vale to become trustees of the Aylesbury Vale Leisure Trust. The Aqua Vale Swimming and Fitness Centre in Aylesbury and the Swan Pool in Buckingham will soon be managed by a Not for Profit Distributing Organisation (NPDO). The Trust will be run by a board of trustees who have a genuine desire to improve public participation in leisure. Nine people will be appointed and anyone interested should contact Caroline Wheller on 01296 585185.

A major change to the way in which the district councils and Housing Associations let their homes has moved closer to reality. The Choice Based Lettings Scheme will give people more choice about where they live. the scheme is due to go live during April 2009. More information can be found at www/buckshomechoice.gov.uk.

The Community Chest Grants Panel has awarded a further £107,000 in grants to organisations in Aylesbury Vale. Grants can be sought by clubs, societies, charities and voluntary organisations to help improve their respective facilities. The contact at AVDC is Mrs. Sarah Rothwell on 01296 585634.

Village Bulk Refuse Collections

Aylesbury Vale District Council’s refuse freighter will visit the Sports Club car park on Thursday 18th December 2008 12 Noon to 3.30pm. This service is for household waste only; Bulky items can be collected for a fee. See AVDC website or call 01296 585510. The refuse freighter cannot accept:- electrical items, clinical waste, car parts or tyres, hazardous waste, commercial or business waste, building site rubble or paints liquids or garden chemicals. Don’t leave rubbish prematurely - it will be regarded as flytipping and may lead to prosecution.
