Secretary - Miss Joan Simmons

Treasurer - Mrs Rosemary Clay

Committee Members - Mrs Diane Webber

                - Mrs June Williams

We are lucky enough to have a thriving Women’s Institute in Stoke Hammond. We meet on the second Tuesday of the month at 7.30pm at the Community Centre in Bragenham Side.

A varied and interesting programme is booked for 2010 and our monthly meetings are interspersed with outings to theatre, films, walks, meals etc etc.

Stoke Hammond Women's Institute strides into 2010 in great shape. with a great variety of Speakers and
events for the year.

Our January meeting had to be cancelled due to really bad weather butwe kicked off in February with an excellent Speaker, Mrs. Kay Bradley who came to advise us on all aspects of a village show.  She was also awash with hints to turn us all into Domestic Goddesses and was a witty and interesting speaker.

Our next meeting is on March 9th when we will welcome Mrs. Maureen O'Neill.  Maureen lives at Lovat Fields in Milton Keynes and will tell us all about life there. You may remember that a 'documentary' was made about Lovat Fields - it was actually renamed Silver Town for the programme - and the residents, who are full of enthusiasm for the place, strongly objected to how they were portrayed and took issue with the TV Company.  Maureen was their Spokesperson so it should be a fiery talk. Also, our Community Police Woman Tina Hopkins will be there with advice and freebies re. security in the village so it will be a full evening.

In the following months we have a terrific variety of Speakers includling an ex-royal security police officer, a historian to tell us about Milton Keynes area through the ages, wicked ladies of the Music Halls and lots more.  We also have outings and events too numerous to mention here so if you are new to the Village or even if you have been here for some time but have never thought about the W.I. why not come along to a few meetings just to see what we get up to.Just turn up, we would be delighted to see you. Our membership covers all ages and persuasions and it would be so good to have some new faces to add to our numbers.
